Same-Day Dentures Keep You Smiling
Don’t Go a Day Without Your Smile!
We know how many questions and concerns might be running through your mind before tooth extraction surgery. Do you want to know what recovery will look like? If you will be able to eat and talk, and what your smile will look like. We’re happy to tell you that the answer to many of these concerns comes in the form of immediate dentures.
This temporary measure is designed to be placed immediately following tooth extraction surgery. While your tissue heals enough for a permanent option to be placed, same-day dentures mean you will still have teeth and a smile you can be confident about.
It takes about six months for complete healing to take place and for swelling to subside in your dental tissues enough that they will be ready for fixed dentures. This doesn’t mean you have to go without a smile! Immediate dentures from Strathmore Denture Clinic will keep you smiling while you heal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do following tooth extraction surgery?
- 24 hours after your tooth extraction surgery, remove and clean your same day dentures with a denture cleaner.
- Rinse your mouth with a warm salt water solution to promote healing and minimize infection.
- Expect some swelling and discomfort. Your denturist will provide you with tips and advice for managing this.
- Choose high calorie, soft foods that are easy to chew.
- It will take about one to six weeks for your extraction sites to heal enough to allow the placement of a temporary liner known as a “tissue conditioner”.
- Once the tissue has completely healed (between six months and one year) a permanent reline can be done. Please note, this service is not included in the cost of the denture.
Are same day dentures permanent?
This will depend on the treatment plan and course established for your specific situation.
For most patients, same-day dentures are only a temporary option while their dental tissues heal following tooth extraction surgery. At that point, most patients get a permanent option in the form of a fixed or removable denture.
Can I get tooth extraction surgery and dentures on the same day?
For about 95% of patients, when proper molds and jaw measurements can be taken, it is possible to have same day dentures put in following tooth extraction surgery. Please keep in mind, this will also depend on your oral health history.
